[0:02:57] It’s not about knowing better than someone else, being right and never wrong, succeeding and not failing. Shedding layers and identities. Getting through using whatever means possible.

[0:04:01] Wanting to belong. Being accepted by the pack. Rejection threatens us with the feeling of death. Amygdala. Fight or flight. Starbucks.

Becoming who we already are
[0:05:37] Finding that sense of home within us is magical. Universal qualities.
[0:06:23] How peace, love and acceptance of yourself can create a new path to you loving, accepting, cherishing and serving everyone else.
[0:06:53] Tapping into a sense of self that is fundamentally equal to all others. Loving service and leadership. Giving. Charity. Social Justice.
[0:07:14] When we see differences that’s when we register threats.
[0:07:55] More meaningful service with others through subtraction.
[0:08:25] Life-long practice. You can’t pass a finish line. There’s no destination to reach. This can be daunting. As a human being you are always changing.
[0:08:51] Dynamics of relationships, work and our needs, desires and contribution is always changing.
The journey is the reward
[0:09:56] Doing what you can wherever you are to find fulfillment and sense of love. Not worrying about who you are going to be.
[0:10:17] Trusting that the you of the future will adjust accordingly.
[0:10:39] Hyper-focused and aware of doing what you can today. Being the best father, brother and teaching the best yoga class you can today.
[0:10:56] How will ultimately succeed or fail.
[0:11:13] Living your life and assessing the quality of your own value system. How we ultimately find our sense of success or failure.
Being vs. Doing. Freedom.
[0:12:11] Doing is a fundamental part of life. Why defining success and fulfillment by doing is enslaving yourself to a deficit minded way of living.
[0:12:40] Finding fulfillment in being vs. doing. More fame, money or followers.
[0:12:56] There’s a necessary balance to our lives. Weeks and weekends.
[0:13:30] Giving. Serving. Receiving. Resting. Henry David Thoreau.
[0:13:50] Nature. Eating well. Becoming aware of mind, body, strength. Active energy in the day. Sleeping well.
[0:15:00] Vibrationally your best self. Bringing your best to the table. Yoga has been a large part of Dave’s life over the last three years.
[0:15:27] Doing something every day without a consciousness to it, loses its meaning.
[0:16:00] Spending time with people everyday is fundamental.
[0:16:26] Relationships require a lot of responsibility and commitment.
Community, people and relationships
[0:16:42] Rob asks Dave how he makes a point of consciously connecting with people.
[0:16:50] Community aspect of yoga. The power of yoga being a communal experience.
[0:17:27] Going to yoga just for a hug. Mood. Happiness. Meeting people. Cycles in thought.
[0:17:55] Changing your point of view by seeing through the eyes of others.
[0:18:22] Basic empathy and compassion. Super-human qualities.
Writing to open up
[0:18:45] Insecurity. Vulnerability. Story as a vessel.
[0:19:00] Spending time out in the world is paramount.

[0:19:30] Teaching yoga. Sun salutations. Stretching and strengthening the body. Presence. Breath.

The power of being seen by somebody

[0:23:45] That feeling of somebody else who didn’t know Dave caring enough to tell Dave to come back to the yoga room. Loyalty.

Letting go and facing uncertainty

[0:29:39] Circumstances, challenges, relationships, hardships, struggles are temporary. Even relationships are temporary even though relationships are everything.
The power of becoming more unapologetically you
[0:29:59] Sacrificing your sense of truth or authenticity or passion for a romantic relationship. Consequences for your truth.
[0:30:58] This is the one perspective you’ll have for the rest of your life. Your lifestyle being a product of who you are.
[0:31:30] Tail-end of the lifestyle design fad.
[0:32:00] Rob asks Dave what’s inspired him over the last week. Dave talks about a close friend of his. Being not doing. Little victories. Letting go of your own cares. Keeping on your own path.
